Millionaire’s Law: An Idea To Feed The Hungry

December 31, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Quick Fact

-Many people are starving in this world, and having everyone pitch in will solve this problem for good!

Intro

We have many wealthy people in America and around the world. Unfortunately, even though these people take care of their needs and the needs of everyone immediately around them, they tend to hold onto their money with a tight grasp and an armored heart. This is why we should push for a law that changes this.

What Is The Millionaire’s Law?

The law is simple in concept and difficult to execute; if a person/company makes $1,000,000 or more per year a certain amount is required to go towards food/water/shelter for the people who need it. My number is $10,000 per $1,000,000 earned, I want $10,000 out of every million/yr to be put towards human wellbeing as required by law, however, I am uncertain of what a reasonable number looks like. For clarity’s sake, this means that if a company earns $4,000,000 in a year, $40,000 of that goes to charity; the fee increases or decreases depending on how many millions they make.

If and when the law is purposely disobeyed the disobeying party is to pay double the amount per million they make. If and when they disobey the new punishment they are to step down from the position they’re in and have somebody competent run the company/project.

We can also make it simple; when the payment is due all they have to do is pay to a certain organization. That organization is then responsible for making sure the money is given to groups and organizations that are providing food/water/shelter to those that need it.

Also, we can create this law so it affects people who’ve already earned a lot of money but who are unwilling to give it away. We can name names and tell specific people to give some of what they have or else they’ll face severe consequences, such as Jeff Bezos. If we do not require certain rich people to pay towards human wellbeing we’ll certainly be missing out on a more wonderful life!

Why Implement It?

People’s well-being is more important than obtaining money. Many wealthy people are wealthy because they are heartless, because they’re okay with screwing other people over and getting rich off of their ignorance. ML should be implemented as a counter to this, we don’t want people getting wealthy and creating monopolies without giving back!

Final Thoughts

This is different from socialism because only a small amount of people are required to donate, and because the capitalist structure still stays in place.

We the people have the power to push for this and make it happen! This isn’t something we have to sit around and wait for someone else to do, we can write a representative and propose that this become law right now! I highly, highly encourage you to do so!

Conclusion

Thank you for reading my idea! If this resonates with you I encourage you to do your best to make it happen :). See you in the next post!

Respect

December 31, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

They always want respect

But don’t give it themselves?

And then, why does everyone back them up

Like they’re doing God’s work?

Strange how older people stopped discriminating based on color

But simply moved to beliefs and age.

“Oh, you’re younger than I? You’re automatically underneath me,”

Says the sloth to the man.

“Oh, you don’t believe what I believe? You must be lesser than I” they say, subtle as it may be.

They do not seem to comprehend that other beliefs may provide more wellbeing and consciousness than theirs.

I do not mean this as an extension of the game of superiority,

But simply as an observation of reality.

They are like children in a sense,

Stuck in their ways and unable to change.

But as soon as I treat them like so,

They get flustered and angry,

As if I made a poor judgement call.

“Don’t worry little ones, it will all be over soon”

I think to myself as they approach the grave.

The Building and Maintaining of ‘Consciousness Centers’

December 31, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Quick Fact

-Building ‘consciousness centers,’ places for conscious people to access resources and form a community, will be extremely helpful for us, similarly to how churches are helpful for people who believe in God!

Intro

While there are relatively few conscious people alive today, there are enough to warrant the respect and dignity they often lack from unconscious people. One helpful expression of this respect is the building and maintaining of consciousness centers, and I’ll enjoy expressing exactly what I mean!

What Are ‘Consciousness Centers?’

A consciousness center is a place where conscious people can go to experience safety, community, and sanctuary. It functions like a church, minus the dogmatism, and plus a whole bunch of other things that conscious people benefit from such as a place to meditate, safely take psychedelics, be around people of a like mind, obtain information and resources, etc.

These centers are particularly to be built in places where conscious people reside but where there is a stunning lack of respect and/or resources for them. They aren’t to be built as or turned into places of profit, and they aren’t to be owned by incompetent, unconscious people.

Why Build Them?

Conscious people tend to suffer around the world from lack of relatability, lack of community, lack of resources and proper information, lack of respect, and more. Building these centers wouldn’t be much different than building churches, and they would be extremely helpful to the kinds of people who deserve all of the support they get.

Final Thoughts

I’m thinking that these centers should be community-driven and tax-exempt. They should be built on private property and exempt from the law in every way imaginable. If harm or death happens in or near a consciousness center the owner and community should act accordingly instead of letting the law get involved.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading my idea! I encourage you to help me bring it to life, and I’ll see you in the next post!

To School You Go!

December 30, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Running in the rain

To catch a bus?

No.

Not when school isn’t what it should be.

Stifling your emotion

To go to church?

No.

Not when church isn’t what it should be.

I’m tired of it

The constant noise telling me,

“You need to go here or there. Be ashamed of yourself for not conforming to our ways.”

Why conform, when your ways lead to a place lesser than mine?

Tell me, tell me once more

What I should so

But then tell me why I should do it

Then I’ll be the judge of your reasoning

The choice will be mine, not yours

For I haven’t got time or patience for ignorance.

What have I done?

I ignored them.

I ignored their demands.

And for what? For me, or for liberty?

Certainly not for them, although I wonder if they secretly wish to be like me, or if they truly resent me.

Perhaps neither.

Stop!

Tell me your ways!

Tell me why you want to be the way you are!

Aren’t you proud of yourself? Don’t you want to explain why you do what you do?

But they do not

As if I’m supposed to magically catch on…

Sometimes I can and the consequences when I can’t seem quite severe.

Fair? Not in the slightest.

But I feel as if my life is threatened when I don’t accurately predict how to act with someone who is sensitive in a detrimental way.

Help? “Only at a price,” they scream.

I sigh as I wish I could simply help with no strings attached.

Tell me, why live like this?

With money and fear?

Tell me, why live like this?

With a stunning lack of cheer?

It doesn’t make sense and it doesn’t feel right

Why not just look up at the bright starry night?

But no, to school you go, don’t miss your class!

Tell me that one more time and you’ll find I’ve got a lot of sass!

2 Ideas to Help Prisoners Become Better People

December 30, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Quick Fact

-Prisoners are often angry and/or resentful, and letting them have a healthy outlet is an idea to help them become better people.

Intro

We have people in our society who are deemed too offensive to live among us. Violence, drugs, suspicious activity – you name it. Some people find themselves locked behind bars, whether they deserve it or not.

I’m not here to plea the innocence of these people, but rather I’m concerned with their current state of being and how it can be improved. Today I will present two ideas that will improve the quality of life in prisons across America!

Idea Number One

He’s running down the street as fast as he can with the police in hot pursuit. He cuts through his neighbor’s backyard, waking him up in the process, and making him quite angry. The police eventually catch him and pin him to the ground, and force his hands behind his back. He’s handcuffed and, after due process, he’s sent to a jail cell.

Depending on the jail he may have things to do, or he may not. He may have recess, work, mealtimes. He may even have access to drugs. However, there is one thing that he probably doesn’t have access to, and that is a punching bag.

Yes, a punching bag. Let me explain!

Prison inmates often (if not always) harbor intense amounts of anger. If anger is allowed to build without release for an extended period of time it can manifest as a criminal act, since ignoring it doesn’t make it go away.

It’s important to give inmates a way to release their anger. They shouldn’t have to sit and let it build up all over again because it

may very well manifest as another criminal act if they’re ever released. This results in a vicious cycle that isn’t helpful for anybody.

It’s also important to give them limited access to the punching bag on a predictable time schedule. This is for psychological reasons. If you give them a punching bag in their cell then they may never use it, since it’s always available to them. However, if it’s only available from 3:00 pm-3:30 pm every day, some of the prisoners will start to anticipate beforehand and be more willing to participate.

Depending on the layout of the prison there can be punching bags in the main room, outside, the recess area, etc. The prisoners should be encouraged to punch the bags as hard as they can for at least 30 minutes, and this will help them live out their anger. This will make life easier for them and the staff who work with them every day.

Idea Number Two

We have AA, Alcoholics Anonymous. Almost everyone is familiar with the program since it’s been around for a long time.

I think prisoners should be required to attend PA (Prisoner’s Anonymous) meetings. The reason for this is simple. When prisoners live together inside of prison they begin to make connections with each other. This connection building can make them even more dangerous if and when they’re released back into the world, especially if they’re still harboring excessive levels of resentment.

If it becomes a mandatory requirement for different prisoners of different backgrounds to sit and make connections with one another (especially with psychological professionals and guards in the room) there will be an absence of one nasty thing in particular – loneliness. We want our prisoners to heal, and the best way to do that is by teaching them how to make strong, genuine connections with each other so they don’t feel isolated and ignored, two feelings that can sometimes lead to violence and the sense of needing revenge.

Conclusion

Beyond these two ideas, we should aim to make our jails a place of recovery, not a place of stagnation. Or worse, resentment. If prisoners have a way to express their anger and a way to form genuine connections with other prisoners/people while they’re there, then everybody will have an easier time, staff, inmates, and the world alike.

Sincerely,

-Gabriel
