On Competition

November 13, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Quick Fact

-We normally engage in competition to feel good, however, we can obtain the same feelings by other, more effective means!

Intro

Competition, as we very well know, is extremely popular in our modern society today. It comes in forms varying from sports to conversations to partners to wars, and it seems like we can’t get enough of it. Watching sports in America is so popular that it almost defines America, and of course almost every country values war, an extreme form of competition… So what gives?

You know, there’s a person in my life who is extremely hypercompetitive. He’s the most competitive person I’ve ever seen in real life or TV, and it’s ruining (or otherwise greatly inhibiting) his life on every possible dimension. I began to question the point and goal of competition before, but meeting this guy made me question it even more… Until I arrived at my stark conclusions! Let’s take a look at the nature of competition, shall we?

The Nature of Competition, What The Goal Is

So, we have two basketball teams trying to win a game. Why?

Part of this is simply a biological urge. Testosterone, to be exact – the higher your level of testosterone the more competitive you’re likely to be.

I’m fairly certain that we developed this chemical because we faced a lot of threats in our primal years. It helped by giving us the “alpha” mindset, “I deserve to live and you don’t,” and this mindset combined with physical strength made it possible for us to kill enough oncoming threats to survive into the modern age. We probably developed serotonin and/or dopamine alongside testosterone because our bodies wanted us to feel good right after we defended our families, almost as a source of motivation!

So nowadays we have many men who know how it feels to “win,” to be the alpha, to be dominant over others. We enjoy feeling good, so we compete in sports and try to win because we know winning feels good. Or we try to dominate the conversation. Or we boss our partner around. Or… Well, it can be a number of things. Plus, we feel other endorphins while our body is moving, and these feel great as well.

Competition is a very primal, biological state of being with a simple goal – survive and feel good. Often we don’t even know why we compete, but so much of our country and our world is so obsessed with it because we want to feel the good stuff, and because we don’t understand better ways of obtaining said good stuff.

The Positives and The Negatives

The positives are:

-Competition (competing in sports, etc) makes us feel good through physical movement and teamwork

-Competition where there isn’t much physical movement still feels good via winning and teamwork

-It’s easy and simple to initiate and carry out consistently.

-Almost everyone on the planet enjoys watching or participating in some form of competition, which means it’s a great way to relate to people.

And the negatives are:

-As it stands many of us are far too obsessed with it, some of us even going so far as to ignore our spouses and/or children to watch the game.

-it’s very very pushed in almost every single country in one form or another, we love to prioritize it over literally everything else. Consequently, many of us weren’t raised right and yearn for “the thing we can’t explain.”

-The majority of us who are consumed by competitive spirits often stay there for life, and that life is often a low-vibrational and unfulfilling life.

In my opinion, the negatives are far too detrimental to be ignored! Some of us have a healthy view towards competition and we take it quite lightly, but it’s worth continuing for the same of those who are simply enraptured by the competitive spirit.

How To Reach The Goal In Better (More Effective) Ways

Feeling good and surviving isn’t very difficult! It especially doesn’t require us to be consumed by competitive spirits – a healthy balance between healthy competition and doing other things in life will often be the best way to reach our goal of “surviving and feeling good.”

I encourage you to ask yourself, “in which areas of my life do I want to take action? Where do I cut back and where do I move forward? And why, exactly?” Once you know exactly where and why you want to take action, taking the action itself will probably feel more meaningful overall.

There are other ways such as deep meditation. You can choose to feel good whenever you want, and I especially direct this next point to the militarily-minded among us – psychedelics. Ironically, the ones who make and enforce the law against psychedelics are the ones who need (and benefit from) them the most!

Don’t discount a healthy diet, a healthy social life, and a healthy relationship. Learning how to build the necessary skills to have these things will take some time but I 100% recommend that everybody do this as well as you/they possibly can.

Conclusion

In the end, being too obsessed with competition isn’t very healthy for you or anyone around you. If you’re already healthy and you enjoy watching the game then that’s fine! But there are always different (dare I say, better!) ways to achieve the goal that competition wishes to achieve, especially when it comes to war. Every soldier should meditate and take psychedelics, period! Then they’ll see how great their war really is!

Thank you for reading! I’ll see you in the next article 🙂

Does Chastity Really Give Positive Energy? What’s That All About?

November 6, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Quick Fact

-Sexual energy can be extremely positive and powerful! There are a number of ways we can increase our sexual energy.

Intro

Okay, this is going to be one of my explicit posts! I’ll be talking about things of a sexual nature, so continue only if you dare…

One of the more occult-like things I’m aware of is the theory that abstaining from sex and masturbation (particularly orgasm) provides positive energy, helps keep your mood high, and makes you feel more sacred the longer you abstain. I decided to entertain this theory and take note of my observations so that I could understand what the truth is!

Does Chastity Give Energy?

For those of us who don’t know, chastity is synonymous with abstaining from sex (or masturbation). But does it actually give you energy? Does it make you feel sacred? Does it give you a feeling of purity, does it even feel better than sex after a while?

I personally tried chastity for roughly 1 month under the following conditions: I was only allowed to release once per week, and I wasn’t allowed to touch myself (beyond taking a shower) or let anyone else touch me until the end of the week came. At the time I was also working on A Fine Time, a project of mine that was very, very sexually arousing (by the way, I’ll probably end up moving some of AFT’s content over here at some point), and that’s worth keeping in mind when reading my following paragraph.

Each week I had 100+ erections before I released at the week’s end, and I figured out that the more I turned myself on without giving in, the more my body succumbed to something called epididymal hypertension (blue balls). At the end of the week, the hypertension was quite intense; I had trouble sleeping and going to the bathroom on days 5, 6, and 7. And during the last two weeks, I even gave myself conditions and rules to follow on the “special night” that made everything slower and (sometimes) less satisfying than it would normally be!

This made some of the experience fairly unpleasant and I mostly stopped chastising for this very reason. Granted, I could have convinced myself to stop being hypertensive and unsatisfied over time, but I found a better way to reach my goal altogether, more on that later.

The less I was turned on during the week (aka, the fewer erections I had without cumming) the less hypertension I built up over time. I can only imagine that not being turned on throughout the week and just releasing at the end wouldn’t be very fun either! This has led me to conclude that, if you want to chastise for positive energy, it’s a good idea to experiment and see how much you’re willing to let yourself be turned on before your release; too little and you won’t have a whole lotta fun, too much and you may have trouble with other bodily functions.

On days 1-4, it felt like I had the right balance, even though I didn’t. I indeed felt sacred, I had an easier time creating posts, and I felt this orange and white energy in my gut. It was fantastic, and it’s definitely something I recommend you try for yourself… Without getting as aroused as I did! However, having sex and masturbating in the “correct” way can give you these feelings as well, and honestly, a lot of it depends on your beliefs towards sexuality in general.

But let me tell ya about the release itself…

It’s Great For Building Discipline!

Other than the problems I experienced I learned that even if I teased and tormented myself to no end, chastising is an amazing way to build discipline! I feel like so many young (hell, even old) men are so into porn, and they masturbate every day and they get depressed afterward… Instead, if this is you or if this applies to somebody you know, I challenge you to slow down on the porn and to hold your release for as many days as you possibly can. Trust me, it’s worth it.

This kind of discipline can be applied to a career setting as well. I also feel like many people hate their jobs partly because they aren’t able to meet their needs and/or desires right in that moment, so consciously choosing to abstain from something and seeing it as a challenge may be a positive solution to this dilemma!

Also, it’s great for your ego 😉

It’s Great for Building Sexual Tension!

This is quite obvious to most of us, but it can be difficult to put into practice – for obvious reasons!

If you want positive energy I wouldn’t recommend chastising as your main source (from personal experience), but if you’re looking to build sexual tension (with or without your partner) then it’s a wonderful idea! There isn’t a whole lot hotter than telling your partner that neither of you can have sex for a week! And it’ll get even spicier if you throw in the extra rule that you have to send each other 1-3 erotic messages/pictures/videos until the final day! Building sexual tension is the main thing I recommend chastising for.

Let’s Not Forget About Confidence!

All I really wanted was to have positive energy in my life, sexual or not! I didn’t really want to build discipline or sexual tension, I just wanted some positive power. As soon as I figured this out I knew that building confidence was a better way to go about having positive energy in my life.

I enjoy building confidence by consistently choosing to feel confident. Then I act it out, and if I come up against any strong resistance or if I find myself in a situation I find disturbing I’ll sometimes have to remind myself to feel confident once again. It’s a little more complicated than that, but that’s what works for me!

Conclusion

At the end of the day, chastising can be great or ehhh depending on your intention. Do you want to build discipline and/or sexual tension? I say go for it! Do you just wanna feel good and feel positive on a regular basis? It may work for you, but I suggest building confidence and a sense of love instead, or alongside it.

Thank you for reading! I’m glad you made it to the end 😉 see you in the next article!

Humor: One Of The Highest Goods

October 26, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Quick Facts

-Laughter is very good for us, and humor is an amazing form of positivity!

-Charm, humor, pleasure, and sexual vitality are all on the same vibrational plane of existence.

-One leads to the other very easily!

-Humor is one of the highest goods, and it’s fairly easy to cultivate and improve our skills at being funny, charming, etc.

Intro

Humor, the one feeling everyone knows and loves! Although there are many variations of humor they all lead to the same outcome – a burst of laughter while trying to remember where you left your car keys the night before.

Without really meaning too I’ve paid attention to humor and humorous people, and it seems to me that humor is one of the highest goods that can be achieved by mankind, sometimes even higher than… Dare I say it… Morality! We all instinctively know this but I’m going to write about it anyway because it feels good and because I want to.

Humor In Relation To Other Feelings

We experience a broad range of emotions in our lifetimes and some of them are… Not so pleasant. Have you ever felt afraid? Angry? Sad? Insecure? Have you ever felt cringy? Disgusted? And all the rest?

Yeah me too, and to be honest I prefer the positive emotions such as… Humor! But I’ve even gone so far as to compare humor to competence, confidence, unconditional love, authenticity, understanding, and other positive emotions that are all worth experiencing on a daily basis, and it seems to me that silliness and bouts of laughter are just as if not more important than anything I’ve mentioned above! I say it again because I can already hear the disagreements even though I’m typing this in Google Docs, “but you have to be serious! You need to be a doer! You can’t have fun all the time! You need to tend to your responsibilities!”

…But who says I can’t have a good time while I do my daily tasks?

A Highest Good? Why?

I may or may not remember taking psychedelics one day while I was in the city and experiencing “the cosmic giggle,” which is a voice (that comes out of nowhere, mind you) that sometimes laughs in a very pure sense. I thought to myself, “laughter is simply a ripple of positive energy! It’s positive energy expressing itself! I understand now!”

I realized that it isn’t just something that silly people do, or something that’s forced, or something that entertainers like to use to make money – it really is positive energy expressing itself, and that’s one reason why it’s a highest good.

Another reason is that it’s universally recognizable. I think that a highest good can be useful if other people receive it well, and that’s why humor can be right up there with conscious enlightenment and total understanding – these latter two are very subjective and difficult to share with others but humor is quite easy and fun to share with others, so even if it doesn’t directly lead to an expanded consciousness (which sometimes it does) it nonetheless brings people into a state of positivity.

Something else is that even if you possess other great traits such as confidence, competence, a large heart, lacking humor seems to be… Huge. Almost as if it’s the biggest piece of the puzzle. I’ve fallen into this before – I developed my personality to a great extent but left humor to watch from the sidelines, almost as if it was just a runner-up to things that weren’t as important, like seriousness. This is a big mistake, especially when it comes to relationships; one of the most fundamental things a relationship thrives off of is humor, and lacking it will make life quite boring and, certainly, not as fun.

How To Harness Humor

I can gladly say that I learned how to be humorous after starting from ground zero! I used to have absolutely no sense of humor when I was younger and then I came across this booklet. It’s $59.99 and it changed my life forever. Buy it now!

*Snickers a little bit.*

Naw I’m just kidding. Unfortunately, I can’t say it was simple, though – it actually took a lot of time and a lot of effort to break free from my past and develop the wit I have today.

At first, I had to “spin” everything and literally look for ways to find humor in everything. Eventually, I could rationalize exactly why everything was funny and the next step was to actually make other people laugh.

Confidence is its own energy, right? Well, humor is the same thing – it is its own energy! If you consciously choose to develop it and be in it like you would confidence or love, you’ll find it easy to be and seem witty, funny, and even intelligent! So I recommend feeling funny first and then being funny second – after all, there are tons of jokes on the internet that are just waiting for a funny person to come along and say them in a funny way 😉

Conclusion

The one takeaway I have for you is that no matter how funny you already are (or aren’t) you have the skill, time, and patience to develop it no matter where you’re at in life! Like I mentioned above, humor is a feeling, and choosing to feel it yourself will make it contagious to others as well.

Thank you so much for reading my article! I want you to say “I choose to feel funny” a couple of times before reading the next article 🙂

Entertainment: The Value and Why It’s A Double-Edged Sword

October 17, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Quick Facts

-Entertainment can be good for us when consumed in healthy doses.

-We can “entertain ourselves to death” if we watch shows/play games instead of doing what we know we should be doing. Balance is key here!

Intro

Entertainment is one of the most coveted things in America today – well, in most of the world today! Many of us can be found on our phones, watching our TVs, playing video games, going to theaters, doing entertaining things, etc, etc.

Some have even ventured to say that we’re too entertained and that we should cut down a little on the phones. I’d say that entertainment is gaining more and more of a negative connotation as time goes on, and since this is happening I’ll make sure we understand the value of entertainment and why it can be a double-edged sword.

Let’s do it to it!

What Is Entertainment?

Entertainment has taken various forms over the years but it’s always had one common goal – to make people laugh and feel good. Have you ever been watching a YouTube video and you just, feel amazing? Maybe there’s some awesome teamwork going on or someone just did an amazing backflip. If you ever laugh or feel good while in the presence of an entertainer you know they’re doing their job correctly!

There is some biology behind this as well – dopamine and serotonin are two “feel good” chemicals that are produced inside of our body. When we watch a video and start to feel good, it’s likely that we’re experiencing an increase of dopamine and/or serotonin, and it’s even more likely that the entertainer knows the psychology behind releasing these chemicals in their audience.

Making people think they’re at ease, that they’re loved, that they’re desired, that they deserve to laugh is part of the “job description,” if you will. Beliefs are thought patterns that are (usually) emotionally charged, so making an effort to make people laugh will get (at least some of) them to think, “wow he’s making an effort just for me! He’s so funny!” That’s when their body secretes those ever-so-pleasant chemicals we know and love making them feel comfortable, relaxed, entertained.

Sometimes things are entertaining without any effort on the other party’s part – I personally find other people’s road rage to be entertaining, for example. Or if a teacher is teaching a subject and their students feel entertained in the process (usually through enthusiasm). Maybe you’ve wondered, “why is this guy so entertaining?” Well now you know, it’s a combination of trust and a good time!

The Greatness of Entertainment/Entertainers

Entertainment has one solid thing about it – it lifts people out of the drudgery of everyday life and temporarily places them in a kind of paradise. An expert entertainer knows this and consciously performs their act to create these positive feelings, usually by knowing their audience and acting accordingly.

I feel like we take these people for granted sometimes, especially with how many of them are available through social media. I want to stress that proper entertainers are rare and that there are a lot of people who can entertain but aren’t true entertainers. These kinds of people make up 99% of the “entertainment side of the moon.”

The people who seem to benefit from this the most are people who are of the mind. The thinkers, the intelligent ones. Thinking can be fun and useful but a thinker doesn’t have a very stimulating life in general, so watching videos or going out to see a play is a great idea for those who are in their head all day long, it’s a great way to reward themselves.

Entertainment has been around since the beginning of our species and it won’t go away until we cease to exist! A true entertainer is a very valuable person and even being able to make people feel good will get you very far in life, which segways into my next headline.

It’s Not Fundamentally Bad

The negative connotation surrounding entertainment is mostly because of the addictive quality of dopamine. It’s funny how you can become addicted to endorphins that are produced by your own body, but it’s true! Dopamine addiction is a huge reason why porn is so addictive, primal parts of your brain are secreting large amounts of it whenever you switch pornstars because, in your mind, you’re finding new sexual partners to mate with. I encourage you to watch the video series on The Coolidge Effect, it’s really quite fascinating.

Discipline and balance are helpful when it comes to entertainment because, if you over-entertain yourself, you’ll find it difficult to do things that aren’t entertaining – such as work! If you’re used to 5+ hours of entertainment per day it’ll be all you’re thinking about while you’re at work, whereas if you’re only used to 1 or 2 hours you’ll be much less addicted and be able to go for the things you want with less struggle.

Entertainment isn’t fundamentally bad, but over-entertaining yourself is.

The Potential To Over-Entertain Yourself

It happens all the time. I see it everywhere whether it be YouTube, Dish, Netflix, video games… It seems like most of us are addicted to entertainment in one form or another, and it’s fairly alarming to someone like me. It’s easy to sit on the couch and do nothing all day while your brain is busy producing dopamine, but I’m of the opinion that this should be a treat, not a lifestyle!

Getting out of dopamine addiction is hard but very possible, I recommend exercising (for serotonin) and achieving goals that you set for yourself (self-esteem).

Being An Entertainer

Ironically enough, being an entertainer can be the opposite of being entertained – good entertainment often takes effort, talent, and skill, most of the work is behind the scenes whereas only a small portion of it feels good for the entertainer as well.

I like to think about it like this – if you play video games and post them on YouTube you want them to be entertaining for your audience to watch. So nowadays you should have a funny personality, make funny comments and jokes throughout the session. When the video’s done you should probably edit it so that it appears in funny ways. Then you post it on YouTube and figure out where to place advertisements along with the video.

Or, if you’re a band and you want to play a concert you have to set the stage up. If you’re like Rammstein and you want to do crazy stuff a lot of effort goes into making sure everything will go right and that nothing will go wrong. Not to mention the actual performance itself… And the takedown afterward.

Being an entertainer can be a lot of work and even boring at times, depending on your profession! That’s why I want to put this disclaimer here so that you don’t make the same mistake I did – I figured “oh, being entertained is so much fun! Being an entertainer will be even more fun!” Maybe it’s that way for some people but I doubt it’s that way for many!

Finding Balance

A lot of thought should be put into how much entertainment we should give ourselves throughout the day because, if we don’t, it may very well take over our lives and always be at the forefront of our mind.

My thought is this – if you’re being entertained so much that you can’t do the things you know you should… It’s time for a change. If you’re trudging or half-assing your stuff because you’d rather be home watching Valley Girls S2E11 it’s time for a change.

However, if you’re being entertained and you have discipline, you’re getting your stuff done and you’re being mentally and emotionally healthy – go for it!

Find your own balance in this area of life, know your goals, and stick to them so that you don’t fall into a trap that’s pretty difficult to climb out of!

Conclusion

Thank you for reading, I really appreciate it. I’m sure that I’ve helped sort this issue out and I hope you’ll share it around and be cool like that! I’ll see you in the next article!

The Alucard Effect: What’s Great About Hellsing Ultimate

October 16, 2020 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Quick Fact

-Alucard is a great character to study, especially when we want to obtain confidence, fearlessness, transformation, a positive sense of eternity, how to consciously embrace our dark side, and more!

Intro

Hellsing Ultimate, the show that shows us the darkest side of human imagination in the most ingenious fashion. It’s not a blood-and-gore flick meant to keep you fixated on sickness but an actual work of art that subtly explains the reasoning behind war and why leaders create it and thrive in it!

Enter Alucard, the main character of the series, a total and complete monster that… Roots for both sides? And goes out of his way to kill for the good guys? Yep and yep! He isn’t the average “killer of the series” that we’ve come across so many times before, he’s much more aware of his situation to be insulted as such! Calling him a “mindless killer” would not only be inaccurate but distasteful once his true nature is revealed, and I argue that his character contains many qualities which we can observe and benefit from!

Fair warning! This post will contain spoilers of the show, I highly encourage you to watch it before reading the rest of this post.

About The Show

Hellsing Ultimate takes place in England sometime in the late 1990s (depending on which timeline you follow) where supernatural beings are the norm and dark, misty nights are revered by all (apparently). Sir Integra, directly funded by the Queen, is in charge of keeping these abominable threats from taking the lives of millions. However, Integra is only human while these creatures are immortal and impossible to kill, so how is she supposed to keep these monsters at bay?

With a monster, of course!

Her father died and made her heir to the throne. His brother, who was standing next to him when he uttered the words on his deathbed, set himself to kill Integra since he was “supposed” to be the successor. Really he just wanted the money and power.

He chases Integra to the basement where there lies a creature that appears to be dead, in a straight jacket. He shoots her in the shoulder and some of her blood lands next to its feet, and to everyone’s surprise, the creature begins lapping it up and using it as food to gain energy. He then proceeds to protect Integra and kill her assailants while taking many pistol shots to the face in the process, thereby sparking the master/slave relationship between Integra and Alucard and a way for her to fulfill her newly found responsibility.

As the show progresses and the threats become more intense we see Alucard give away some of his character. Mind you, he’s not developing, he’s giving it away – a welcome breath of fresh air in an era of “he started out like crap and now he’s completely on top of everything” which grows old and stagnant after a while.

And what he gives away is so solid and so applicable that I couldn’t help but share it with you today! So buckle up and prepare for some of the most cinematic genius the world’s ever seen!

He’s Not Afraid To Kill. And He Does. A Lot.

This is the most in-your-face quality about Alucard that turns many people away – his kill count. I won’t spoil it for you but he’s definitely racked up a couple of lifetime sentences between his gun, his brute strength, and his superpowers, not to mention the fear he instills in people upon his arrival.

Granted, it’s his job to kill supernatural threats, but there’s a big difference between killing because it’s your job and killing for sport. Alucard admits he kills for fun, and that’s early on in the series – he has no bones about it!

Something we can take away from this mindset is that going through the desire to harm, in our minds, while suspending judgment is actually a healthy thing to do! Maybe we shouldn’t act it out, but we do have a collective “okayness” with killing and death because of our primal past, something which shouldn’t be denied and should be accepted in stride!

He Has No Fear

None whatsoever. This is his greatest quality, in my opinion, his fear of death is completely and utterly not there.

Most of us alive today are afraid of fear, evil, and suffering. We avoid it like the plague and any mention of it brings a certain sickness to our stomachs – not Alucard. He simply goes and does what he wants to do, often smiling and laughing in the process. It’s quite remarkable really, considering the dark things he’s tasked with doing.

This is a huge takeaway for us – having no fear in our system is the equivalent of being enlightened, that is, we feel “light” because there is the absence of “heaviness” (fear). Just because we don’t fear something like killing or death doesn’t necessarily mean we should do it, it’s simply an alternative to being bogged down by suffering.

He Is Fear

This may seem like a contradiction to what I just wrote, but it makes sense in a certain way. If someone like Alucard decides to completely accept fear and turn it into seriousness he will be filled to the brim with fear and be fearless at the same time. He is completely okay with feeling fear (even if it’s only the fear of his enemies) and therefore transcends it by “becoming” it, by being himself in its presence, by acting through it.

How we can apply this in our everyday lives is by accepting the things we cannot change – for example, there will always be death. If we accept death then we accept the fear of death, and if we accept the fear of death we can transcend it.

His Confidence Is Off The Charts

This guy… Has no bounds to his confidence. None at all.

Later on in the series, he’s stranded on a warcraft carrier because he crashed his aircraft into it and killed an enemy of war. He floats on the remains of his ship to England where he’s met with WWIII, two different armies attacking the same city. He leaps off of his ship and lands in the middle of both armies, smiling a devilish smile as the two warlords approach him and grimace, inches from his face.

He’s unstoppable, so why wouldn’t he?

Many of us today are not confident for one reason or another. Part of it has to do with propaganda, part of it has to do with detrimental beliefs, and part of it has to do with lack of proper experience. Choosing to have the kind of confidence that Alucard possesses, the confidence of someone who is truly unstoppable, is a serious advantage in life and a fantastic way to experience wellbeing.

He Fully Embraces His Desire To Be a Monster

He doesn’t hide it one bit! At the end of the series, his arch-rival is about to turn himself into a monster to defeat Alucard. Alucard says (paraphrasing), “Do not turn yourself into a monster who could not bear the weight of humanity, as I have. Only a human can defeat a monster like me.”

This goes hand-in-hand with what I’ve written above – does he care what other people think? Not really! Does he care that other people consider it wrong to kill, maim, and murder? Nope! He has no gripes with being a monster, and this is something we can sort of apply in our lives as well; we embrace our desire to become the thing we wish to become, even if it happens to be a monster. The opposite is suppressing our desires, and this brings undesirable results – it’s far better to know what we truly desire so that we can think it through rationally.

He’s Been Through The Deepest Metamorphosis From Fear to Self/Selflessness

Near the end of the series, he speaks to Walter since Walter considers Alucard his “monster to defeat.” He explains that, by facing him, Walter is going through “the metamorphosis that we all went through (speaking about himself, the main warlord, and his arch-rival),” a metamorphosis that began with extreme suffering, lead to extreme fear, lead to extreme anger, and finally ended with the end result – a fearless monster. This metamorphosis isn’t just science fiction – it’s a process that can happen in real life as well.

When someone goes through, for example, extreme poverty, they probably live in a lot of fear. Sometimes this fear can turn into anger since anger is supposed to be primal energy that keeps the fear from becoming reality. Anger, then, leads people to do shady things such as joining gangs, robbing people, homicide, etc etc. They become fearless monsters, and yet they’re completely consumed by their fear and anger.

The takeaway from this is subtler than I like it to be – instead if going through the process of fear → anger → monster in the physical world, we should go through the process only in our minds. Some of us have so much momentum going in this direction that positivity is a no-go, so going through the metamorphosis in our minds (without letting it manifest in the physical world) is the next best thing. Plus, it looks cooler this way.

He Has (Almost) No Mental Boundaries (No Societal Boundaries/Pressures)

He has a few boundaries – he doesn’t use his full power unless he consciously drops his limits and he has to obey Sir Integra. Other than that he’s boundless, and having a boundless mind is the equivalent of having a completely free and fearless life.

Strangely Enough, Despite All Of This, He’s Fully Conscious

“But Gabriel, a killer can’t possibly be fully conscious and awake! That’s just not right!”

…Except he knows about and consciously acknowledges the 3rd eye.

In the middle of the series, his apprentice is tasked with holding down the fort against an army of Nazi vampires with an army of hired hands. Everything goes great until the leader of the army starts attacking them – and she’s 100 feet tall, immune to their weapons, and wielding a giant scythe! They don’t stand a chance, not one, molecule of a chance!

His apprentice begins to telepathically communicate with Alucard while he’s on the ship… First of all, they’re telepathically communicating while he’s on the ship!

She begins to give him the rundown of the situation and he tells her, “you have a 3rd eye. You should use it! It’s just an illusion!” She opens her 3rd eye, sees that the actual woman is 6′ instead of 100′, and shoots her while inside the mansion. The 100-foot behemoth begins to topple, and the “damage” she created was “reversed” instantly.

This is the most stunning and direct instance proving that his 3rd eye is blasted open but the entire show gives it away too – his interaction with the other characters really brings his own character to light, one that is completely aware and completely conscious of the entire situation at all times. It really makes me wonder, “how awake can we really be until we truly answer the question, ‘why not kill?'”

The Alucard Effect

Combining all of these characteristics produces The Alucard Effect – IE, someone who’s confident, fearless, monstrous, able and willing to act, and strangely wise all at the same time.

I am of the opinion that doing some introspection while watching Hellsing Ultimate is an amazing way to be even more mentally healthy than we already are. For example, asking ourselves questions such as “why is this show so intriguing, exactly? Which characteristics do I want to expand on in my life? How can I be more awake? Do I desire to be a monster and/or do monstrous things?” may hurt or be uncomfortable at first. But, choosing to give yourself the qualities you desire is the first step to achieve/expand on your mental health! I recommend you watch the show, the entirety is an amazing work of art!

Conclusion

Thank you for reading! This is a different kind of post, but I had a lot of fun writing it. Let me know if you want to see more like this! I’ll see you in the next article 🙂
